Wonderful. So do you have any goals for down the road in your personal life? Is there anything that you’re hoping to accomplish?

I haven’t thought about that yet (laughs). My goal right now is to go back to work because I’ve been out of work for awhile. I want to work hard and earn my vacations and enjoy my life!

Those are good things to do for sure! I know that you would tell a friend about LANWAN Professional, if you met somebody who was thinking about coming to LANWAN Professional for help, what would your advice be to them if they were unsure about joining the program?

That depends on the person. They should at least have an IT background. I will tell them that without Cisco certifications, it’s hard to find work. So first, you have to tell them that Cisco certifications are not extremely hard to get if you study well with the lab and hands-on.

Is there anything that you would like to say?

Well, I want to say thank you to LANWAN Professional and especially to Eric Choi and Jonathan Klein who helped me to find a job. I cannot wait to start work. I appreciate the company that is helping me be successful in the future. I’m so happy and thank you to all of you at LANWAN Professional.

Can you tell me about your new job? What will you be doing?

I will start tomorrow. My new job title is CCNA Network Technician. I can tell you that I’ll be working inside the Intel Corporation to help the LAN and WAN set up like fixing breaks or services in there. I can tell it relates to Cisco’s routers and switches.

Wow, that’s amazing. That’s a good company to be working with. So now that you’ve been trained and you have a new job that starts tomorrow, what are your thoughts on the success you’ve experienced?

I guess in the future I’m planning to get more hands-on experience to, hopefully, become a Network Engineer to get better pay (laughs). Then I will tell my friends, relatives, and co-workers to join LANWAN Professional.

So can you share with me, in your words, how do you think LANWAN Professional helped you become placed in your current position?

After I finished all the certifications, I did the CCNA and CCNP. I passed the CCDP as well. After that, I asked Eric Choi to help me become placed in a career. After that, I was doing job searches on my own as well. It took about a few weeks and then Jonathan Klein came to help me. Finally, I found a job. I got offered a job yesterday. My experience in looking for work is not easy. I tried my best, but I know that my 2nd language, English, is difficult for me to find work as a network engineer. I didn’t give up though, I kept trying. I try to give phone interviews my best even though I don’t do so well; I don’t give up. I tried a few more times and it finally worked.

Excellent. That takes a lot of persistence. It’s really good that you did that. I know you said that you asked Eric Choi to help you out, in what ways did he help you?

Eric Choi encouraged me to finish all the certifications and I did. First, I signed up for the internship, but it looked like it wasn’t going to work out so he put me in the placement program and that worked. I finally found a job and I’m very happy.

So Kim, I only know a little bit about you so

can you introduce yourself and just tell me

a little bit about your story? What were you

doing before you came to LANWAN Professional?

Okay, Rebecca, before I was in LANWAN Professional,

I was not working. I was unemployed during that

time for 3 years. Then I decided to go to LANWAN

Professional for help.

What were you doing before you were out of work?

Were you in IT before?

Yes, I was in IT for a few years in roles like desktop

support, IT support, up to 2008. I was laid off and

I stopped working during that time.

So what was it about LANWAN Professional that

made you decide to come to us versus elsewhere for help?

Well, when I saw the advertisement in my email, something in my mind clicked. This camp would be very helpful for me. I felt that without LANWAN Professional’s help I could not find a job. So I saw that and I called the office right at that time.

Could you tell me about the training and your experience at LANWAN Professional? What did you think of the technical training?

I remember in February 2011 is when I started the program. LANWAN Professional gave me the lab guides and I did all that and they accepted me into the program. I was really happy when that happened. I went to the camp in March 2011. I spent all my time and energy in there to try and finish the program, which I did. I liked it very much.

Having been out of work for three years, Kim Quach knew he needed help in order to get back into the IT Industry.  Kim shares about his journey in obtaining a wealth of Cisco Certifications, and overcoming the barrier of a second language speaker in order to land a new, exciting position at Intel.
